Austin police are searching for an armed man who robbed a Chase Bank in Southwest Austin on Saturday afternoon.
Police were called to the Chase Bank at the 5700 block of West Slaughter Lane at 1:45 p.m.
Officer Bono Cadenas said the robber brandished a firearm and took an undisclosed amount of money. The robbery marks the first in Austin in 2020, he said. No one was injured.
The robber is described as being 5-foot-10 tall and was wearing a black motorcross helmet, black goggles, gray jacket, gray gloves, back pants and gray shoes.
Police said the man, who is considered to be armed and dangerous, was seen exiting the bank on a dark-colored bicycle. Police said they believe he was traveling west on Slaughter Lane.
The bank lobby was closed Saturday while robbery detectives remain on scene and canvas the area, Cadenas said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 512-472-TIPS or 911.
