European markets continue to post strong gains Monday at the midday mark, coming on heels of Asia’s dismal day.
London’s FTSE index is up 1.5%, the CAC-40 in Paris is 1.1% higher, and Frankfurt’s DAX index is up 1.3%.
Earlier Monday in Asia, Tokyo’s Nikkei index closed down 0.5%. The S&P/ASX index in Sydney gained 0.3%. The Hang Seng in Hong Kong is down 0.4%, while Shanghai’s Composite index lost 1.8%. The KOSPI index in Seoul rose 0.6%, and Taipei’s TSEC index is down 0.2%.
In late afternoon trading, Mumbai’s Sensex is 0.1% higher.
In commodities trading, gold is selling at $1,935.10 an ounce, up four-tenths of a percent. U.S. crude oil is selling at $39.21 an ounce, down 1.4%, and Brent crude oil is trading at $42.09 an ounce, down 1.3%.
