There’s no time like now to fire up the NFL rumor mill, especially when it might involve the Vikings’ kicking game.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, four teams have contacted the Baltimore Ravens about trading for kicker Kaare Vedvik, and Schefter says two of the teams are from the NFC North.

Perhaps you’ve noticed, but the Vikings and Bears haven’t had much success with kickers in recent years. The Packers still have Mason Crosby, who made 30-of-37 field goals, including 5-of-7 from 50+ yards last season, and the Lions still have Matt Prater, who hit on 28-of-32 field goals and 30-of-30 extra points last season.

Bailey struggled for the Vikings last season and has reportedly continued to struggle with consistency in training camp, although he was a perfect 4-for-4 on extra points in Minnesota’s win over the Saints in the preseason opener.

So who is Kaare Vedvik?

He’s a 25-year-old kicker who signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent last season. He’s got a big leg and hit four field goals, including a 55-yard field in Baltimore’s preseason opener against the Jaguars, in addition to going 4-for-4 on extra points.

And Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has made it clear that the Ravens hope to trade him for a draft pick.

“I fully expect that he’ll kick well enough for us to trade him,” Harbaugh said in March, . “That’s kind of the goal. He’s capable of kicking in the NFL. We probably could have traded him last year.”

The Ravens don’t need Vedvik because they have Justin Tucker, one of the best kickers in NFL history.

But according to the New York Daily News, .

Vedvik can also punt, as he booted punted of 58 and 53 yards against the Jaguars.
