OAKLAND — A Wells Fargo bank branch in the heart of downtown was robbed Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The amount of cash taken was not released.

The robbery happened about 9:50 a.m. at the Wells Fargo branch, 1225 Broadway.

Police said a man gave a teller a note demanding money and fled from the bank with the loot. No weapon was seen.

The robber was described, as black, between 25 and 30 years of age, about 5 feet 8 and between 160 and 170 pounds.  He wore a white baseball cap, white jacket and white pants with red striping.

He was last seen running northbound on Broadway.
