Bank of America opened a branch at 1111 Eldridge Parkway on Thursday, replacing a financial center that was damaged by Hurricane Harvey and positioning the banking giant to open eight new branches and six renovated branches in the Houston area this year.

Bank of America is the third largest bank in the Houston area, based on deposits, which it grew 6 percent to $23.79 billion locally in 2019, and it plans to open additional locations in 2020.

Four of the bank’s new locations don’t have any employees, instead providing ATMs that can handle all transactions and offer video conferencing for customers to speak with an employee on topics ranging from basic banking needs to buying a home or financing a car. It also provides guidance for retirement and investing with financial solutions advisors from Merrill Edge.

And earlier this year, Bank of America consolidated three downtown offices to 210,000 square feet in a 35-story tower at 800 Capitol.
