WILLIAMSTOWN — Williamstown Elementary School Partner in Education Williamstown Bank Friday made a $10,000 match donation to the Williamstown Elementary School PTA and administration for the playground.
The school levy included no funding for the playground at the new elementary school. Playground fundraising has been ongoing for three years and the donation from the bank made the funding campaign complete for the playground equipment and installation.
“I am proud to represent our PTA and appreciate all efforts from the Williamstown Community who had a part, big or small, in finalizing this project. I know our kids will be thrilled and excited when they see their new school and playground,” Carrie Ankrom, PTA president, said.
The equipment is scheduled to be installed by Aug. 1 and will feature two play structures and exercise areas. One area is designed for Pre-K and kindergarten students and the second is designed for students in grades 1-5.
An outdoor learning center, a basketball court and an eighth-mile oval walking track will encircle the soccer field.
“As a long-time Partner in Education with Williamstown Elementary School, Williamstown Bank is grateful for the opportunity to support the efforts to provide needed playground equipment for the students,” Sharon Anderson, president and CEO at Williamstown Bank.
“We wanted to offer a matching donation that would encourage others to give and in essence double the reach of our donation, and we are so proud of the community for stepping up and allowing our children the opportunity to have a state of the art school and play area,” Anderson said. “Williamstown Bank is proud to be partners with Williamstown Elementary, and we cannot wait to see the students’ reactions to their new school.”
The PTA continues to accept donations to beautify the area with signs, shrubs and benches. To contribute, contact the school at 304-375-7675.
