ZAGREB (Croatia), March 31 (SeeNews) – Croatia’s central bank said on Tuesday it sold 618.15 million euro ($457 million) to local banks, aiming to support local kuna currency amidst the coronavirus crisis.
The intervention was made at 7.608529 kuna per euro, the central bank, HNB, said in a notice.
Following the intervention, the reference exchange rate for Wednesday was set at 7.639410 kuna per euro versus 7.632059 for Tuesday, HNB data showed.
This is the fifth time that HNB has stepped in on the foreign exchange market in March and since the beginning of 2020, with the interventions being part of its measures to support the financial sector and calm down the currency market during the coronavirus crisis.
