A message going viral across social media platforms claims that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will withdraw all Rs 2000 currency notes from circulation.

A message going viral across social media platforms claims that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will withdraw all Rs 2000 currency notes from circulation.
The message claims that consumers will not be able to exchange Rs 2000 notes after October 10, 2019. It also says that people can only exchange Rs.50,000/- in 10 days.
The message further advises everyone to “start changing your 2000/- notes immediately”.
Times Fact Check received the message on its WhatsApp number from a reader who wanted to know the truth.
TRUTH
This information is false. RBI has no plans to discontinue circulation of Rs 2000 currency notes.
VERIFICATION AND METHODOLOGY
We went through the official website of RBI and found no such announcement or notification published there.
Times Group’s Mumbai Mirror spoke to an RBI spokesman who confirmed to Mirror that the viral message is false and that there is no such plan .

“The RBI has issued no such order and has no plan to withdraw Rs 2000 notes or print new Rs 1000 notes by Jan 1, 2020,” an RBI spokesperson confirmed to Times Fact Check.
This is not the first time this false information is going viral. When a similar message went viral last year, RBI had denied + it.
VERDICT
Times Fact Check has found the claims of RBI withdrawing Rs 2000 denomination notes from circulation to be false.
