Police have made an arrest in connection with an armed robbery at a Paso Robles bank Friday morning.
It happened at about 9:20 a.m. at Pacific Premier Bank when police said two men entered the bank on 12th street, pulled out guns and demanded money.
They took off in a gold-colored car, which was later found abandoned on the 1800 block of Oak Street, according to Paso Robles police.
Investigators determined the men had switched vehicles and were believed to be driving a white pickup.
With the help of a CHP helicopter and the FBI, police say they tracked down a matching vehicle in San Miguel.
The registered owner was identified as Michael Wallravin, 61. Police say he was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Jail logs show Wallravin was booked into custody shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of robbery. Bail has been set at $60,000.
Investigators have identified two people of interest – William Weldon Chandler, 61, and Billy Benjamin Hernandez, 47, they’re hoping to speak with in connection with the investigation.
Anyone with information that may help police is asked to call Detective Lickness at 805-227-7450. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at (805) 549-STOP.
Friday’s bank robbery was the second at this branch in less than two months.
On Sept. 23, another robbery occurred at the bank when police say a man, armed with a gun and wearing a mask resembling an elderly man, demanded cash from the teller.
Police have not released information on whether they believe the two robberies are related.
