A man who is accused of trading gunfire with Austin police in August has been arrested, according to federal officials.

Deonte Lee Rogers, 31, was arrested by the US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at an apartment complex in the 7200 block of Northeast Drive in Easton Austin on Saturday. The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force are a coalition of local and state law enforcement personnel.

Rogers, 31, was wanted for violating federal parole, a warrant that was released in March. He was placed on parole after a 5-year sentence for the charge of felon in possession of a firearm.

On August 25, Austin police traded gunfire with Rogers, when they sought to arrest him for a probation violation. Rogers and another man ran from an apartment complex’s courtyard in the 6100 block of Manor Road in East Austin. Officials said Rogers shot at police as they turned a corner, and the officers returned fire. No officers were injured, and it is unknown if Rogers was wounded.

The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative duty while criminal and internal investigations into the shooting take place. This is standard protocol for the department when deadly force is used.
