Rumor is OKC Thunder captain Chris Paul remains a trade target of the New York Knicks who seek a leader who’ll offer stability to the long-suffering franchise.
Although the OKC Thunder is among the teams who reside in a state that is relaxing stay at home restrictions they won’t be rushing back to the practice facility as per GM Sam Presti. That doesn’t mean players aren’t busy, especially team captain Chris Paul.
Aside from playing interim school teacher to his son Chris Jr. and Daughter Camryn the veteran point guard is extremely active due to his role as NBPA President. The latter has resulted in Paul being a coveted guest for podcasts, radio shows, and TV segments. Suffice to say he might even be busier than normal given the circumstances the league is navigating.
With all these guest appearances and his participation in the ESPN, H-O-R-S-E challenge the Point God has also been the focus of news articles. Yet, the most recent headline about CP3 is the New York Knicks continuing interest in trading for the point guard.
This week Ian Begley of SNY tweeted out a video stating there are members within the New York Knicks organization who remain committed to landing Paul.
That the team from the Mecca is so interested isn’t that surprising given their inability to draw elite superstars to the market. Much of this is due to ownership and management. The latter was tweaked with the firing of Steve Mills just prior to the trade deadline. Mills replacement is former agent Leon Rose who assumes the role of President of the franchise.
With this renewed interest in Chris Paul let’s examine the pros and cons of a trade of this nature in terms of why it would be advantageous for either CP3 or the OKC Thunder.
