ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) — UPDATE 1/9/20 @ 6:10 p.m.
Police have recovered a van believed to have been used in a bank robbery Thursday afternoon in Ashland.

A suspect is wanted in a reported bank robbery in the 2900 block of Blackburn Avenue in Ashland, Kentucky.

Ashland Police Chief Todd Kelley said the suspect remains on the run.

The robbery happened at 2:43 p.m. at the PNC branch in the 2900 block of Blackburn Avenue.

Kelley said the suspect indicated to bank employees that he had a weapon. That man got away with an undetermined amount of cash.

A patrol officer found the van at an apartment complex along Woodland Avenue, according to the chief.

Police continue processing evidence from both scenes.

While nobody was hurt during the robbery, the chief says it’s traumatic for those working at the bank.

“I’m sure the bank has things in place for those kinds of high-profile situations, especially when the threat of force is imminent and used against them,” Chief Kelley said.

Kelley says the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department informed them the van had been reported stolen from Scioto County.

Anyone with information is asked to call Ashland Police at 606-385-3127 or their local 911 agency.
